DIY Friday

I'm always a fan of making your own food, supplies, or whatever you can think of.  Here is a recipe I came across from the examiner that involves green tea!  I'm going to post my favorite facial scrub once I make some more...
  • 1/2 cup green tea
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • Mix in a bowl. Put in spray bottle and lasts about a month.
  • For sensitive skin, use 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. Lavender oil may be added for fragrance and skin rejuvenation.

Mental Health

I'm a huge advocate of free, creative thinking and believing what feels right to you.  However, it is important to keep yourself in check with society unless you plan on completely leaving society and pulling a Thoreau out in the woods.

Here's a great post written by the witch at forest grove on maintaining a healthy level of skepticism. Her site is great so I highly recommend going there anyway!

DIY Runes

Yesterday I was feeling in a creative mood and wanted to get my hands dirty... really dirty.  So, I made salt dough!  My intentions originally were to actually make a set of runes so I could learn.  Runes have always intrigued me and I've been asked about them sometimes, but I don't know very much.  So I figured i'd get the hands on experience.

For my recipe I did :

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 T (tbsp) of Veg Oil (optional: to help knead dough)
I added in the water little by little, and by the end got impatient and ended up with a gooey mess, so I had to add more flour.  You'll hear more about that in a minute. So I rolled up the dough into little balls and flattened them gently with my fingers until I got the right shape, size, thickness, etc, then carved each rune with the tip of a knife.  I put them all on a cookie sheet and then into a 170 degree oven (that's as low as it would go).  I left them in there for a few hours I believe, I was making bread afterwards.
What I realize is I should've put a Tbsp of lemon juice to help the dough harden, or more salt.  Remember that extra flour?  Well after being cooked and air dried all night, they're a tad cakey.  I suppose I don't mind, I just hope they don't break too soon.

Capricorn Moon?

Could it be that my sudden strike of organization and planning of time is related to the moon having gone to Capricorn this morning?
Must be... because let me tell you, while I have forms of organization, I think they are classified under "Theoretically Organized Chaos".

But all for the better right?  I might as well use this time wisely while I can.  (See! There it is again...)

Who am I?

I thought as a little joke I'd start you off with my result from this quiz:

You are the World

Completion, Good Reward.
The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.
The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.
